Danarti is a bilingual (Georgian and English) art and culture magazine on local, social, and political issues in Georgia through the voices of scholars working in various fields. Founded in 2011, Danarti is run by three mothers and art historians based in Tbilisi, Georgia. It operates both online and in print: www.danarti.org
Elene Abashidze is a curator and co-editor of Danarti, she is based in Tbilissi. She studied at the State University in Tbilisi and Goldsmiths College in London. She is currently doing a residency at Binz39, Zurich. Her recent exhibition "Twelve Women Gone Missing" and the last issue of Danarti focuses on the gaps within Georgian art historical narrative, making space for some of the emigrant female voices.
The fiction film "I Am Truly a Drop of Sun on the Earth" screens two protagonists marginalized in the conservative setting of Georgia’s capital Tbilisi. April, a sex worker, meets Dije, a migrant from Nigeria, finding themselves at the bottom of the social ladder. The two actors play their own characters.
Elene Naveriani is a Georgian film-maker based in Geneva, she studied at the State Academy of Art in Tbilisi and University of Art and Design (HEAD) in Geneva. Trailer: https://vimeo.com/257906648
